Scholarship

One of our main objectives in extending Elise’s legacy is to provide scholarship money to deserving young swimmers who, like Elise, have demonstrated incredible passion for the sport, academic excellence, and an ongoing quest for knowledge. Elise was a passionate physically fit 7-year competitive swimmer who drowned during warm-ups at a club practice on June 20, 2016.

Scholarship Overview

In honor of Elise Cerami, the Swim4Elise Foundation 501(c)3 was established to initiate “a positive wave of change” for USA Swimmers by bringing an awareness to water safety. Through the Foundation’s scholarship program and water safety questionnaire, Swim4Elise will collect water safety data that will be used to provide feedback on the sport of swimming.

Scholarship Guidelines & Criteria

The Swim4Elise Foundation offers two types of scholarships:

  • A swim camp scholarship (6th-11th graders)
  • A college scholarship (10th-12th graders)

The number of scholarships and amount of individual awards will be decided annually at the discretion of the Swim4Elise Board of Directors.

For both types of scholarships, there are 4 parts to the online scholarship application:

  • Demographic questions, which are part of the online form
  • Acknowledgment & recommendation form, which is to be printed from here, signed by both parent & coach/teacher/mentor, scanned in, and then uploaded digitally as part of the online form
  • Essays, which are to be completed as part of the online form
  • Water safety questionnaire, which applicants will complete here on this site, and then attest to on the online form

Only fully completed applications with all 4 components will be considered for either the camp or the college scholarships. Scholarship awards are the final decision of the Swim4Elise Board of Directors.
