Today is #NationalNonProfitDay! Today we are highlighting the Swim4Elise Foundation swim4elise!
#Swim4Elise is dedicated to promoting water safety through community education, scholarships, and more. During the summer months, the foundation provides free water safety education to daycare centers in the DFW area to help teach students and their families the importance of water safety. Swim4Elise also holds #Run4Elise, a 5K/1 mile fun run every spring. At this event, scholarships are awarded for swimmers in college and for younger swimmers to attend swim camps. FAANT is a proud sponsor of the Run4Elise, coming up on May 1, 2021. The foundation also founded the 100 Lifeguard Challenge, which has a goal of certifying 100 lifeguards every year.

Swim shirts and blankets were some of Elise's favorite things. She was always wrapped in a soft fuzzy blanket during road trips to swim meets. Tomorrow, I'll be trading 26.2 miles of slow endurance for 3.1 miles of intense sprinting at the Run4Elise 5K. Each have their own set of challenges, but both require some grit to finish. It'll be my first 5K I've ever attempted. Its funny, normally someone would run a 5K before they run a marathon. I guess I did things in reverse order.

Run4Elise 5K 2018 is finished. Despite being really cold and windy, it was still a lot of fun. I placed 1st in my age group and 9th overall. I also got to see some friends from Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers that I haven't seen in a few weeks. I love my LGRAW group 😀
