Community Outreach

    Did you know?

Drowning is responsible for more deaths of children ages 1-4 in Texas than any other cause except birth defects. Drowning is preventable.

    Summer is water safety time!

You're never too young for water safety!

Last summer, we reached 2,000 families! Help us continue to make an impact and prevent drowning!

If you’re interested in having Swim4Elise present a daycare outreach program at your facility, please send us a note.

During the summer months, Swim4Elise provides free outreach classes to daycare programs throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and surrounding communities.

Each summer, it is our goal to teach children to be safe around water. Sadly, in 2023, there were 90 Texas families that lost children to drowning and another 500-800 children that visited a Texas emergency room for a nonfatal drowning.

These families, along with our daughter Elise’s fatal drowning, compel us to find ways to share life-saving water safety education in a meaningful, relevant, and age-appropriate way. We believe that our efforts are helping to reduce fatal drownings in our community and we are grateful for every opportunity to raise awareness.

We typically spend 10 minutes with the younger classes (ages 2-4) and work up to the school age kids. As ages progress, the program is anywhere from 20-40 minutes long. The water safety book we use covers the importance of swimming lessons and water watchers. We provide a take-home water safety packet for each child present.

    Elise’s mom,
